Scrapmuse - DT Call

Some of you may remember that I used to hang out at Scrapmuse a lot and subscribed to their Kits, but somehow things changed and life steered me towards different clubs/communities and I as good as forgot about them...BUT today I accidentally came across their Design Team Call, so I checked the old forum out. It was fantastic to see that a lot of the old crew is still there; making my return to the forum almost feel like coming home.

And yes, I have decided to throw my hat into the ring for the call. Melissa, the owner is one of the above mentioned old crew - and having checked out the Kits she put together since she took over the 'Muse, I can honestly say that it would be a delight to work with them. But even if I don't get on the team, I am just pleased I "found" the community again. Since the closure of CMK I have been kinda "homeless" and lost in cyberspace, trying to find a forum which I felt comfortable in.

myStampBox - DT October, Pt II

I am so very excited - today is my first post as DT Member for {mystampbox} over at their {blog}. The step by step tutorial for my card can be found over there - if you have a spare moment, please do check it out :). Heck, even if you don't have a spare moment, I'd still be grateful if you popped over...

The {merry word jumble} set is one of my favourites. You may have spotted those across the net before but never in this handy smaller size. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE that the jumbles are not so big, as this makes it perfect for use on tags as well.

Ingridients:
Cardstock: Bazzill; Papermill
Papers: Graphic 45
Stamp: myStampBox - Merry Jumble
Embellishments: Pearls - Papercellar; Embroidery Floss

2S4Y - Kazan's Sketch #38 - It's Goodbye from me

Now, where on earth have the last six months gone? I am continuously amazed at how quickly time flies these days and it feels like it was ony a few weeks ago that {kazan} and {laura} invited me to become part of their team at {2s4y}.

What I love the most about the blog - well apart from the wonderful sketches and weekly inspiration through DT and readers - is that the DT changes regular. After six months, you will always see fresh faces and I think that is what makes this challenge blog so popular and keeps them on top of the game.There are so many wonderful card makers around the globe, with so many different styles that it is refreshing to have this regular change.

Of course I am very sad that today marks my last day, but I am also looking forward to see who makes the new team and to participate in the challenges from the other side of the screen ;-)
And look  what Kazan and Laura said about their leaving DT members {here} - made me well up, that did *wipessnotaway*

Enough of the words, let's get on with the Farewell Sketch already...
This week, the DT were generously sponsored by the printable stamps from the {cutting cafe} once more. Regina has been spoiling us over the last six month with fantastic stamp sets, so it was only fitting that we would end our term with some awesome Halloween Stamp sets.

I played around with the {halloween this and that} set and the {halloween background}. The hardest part was choosing which of the 22 images I was going to use...but I got there eventually.

Kazan's sketch was a dream to work with - as always.

For my card, I printed the Happy Halloween background stamp onto a piece of kraft cardstock, as I wanted to keep the colours of the card itself muted. I really adore that pumpkin stamp so I printed this onto two different coloured pieces of cardstock and cut out individual pieces of the darker coloured pumpkin. Embossing the pieces and adhering them on top of the lighter coloured pumpkin, gives you dimension and texture. To finish the pumpkins off, I used some glitter glue on the lighter areas of them pumpkin.

I hope you will all play along with {anja}, {lori}, {latisha} and myself for our final sketch. But don't forget that {cheryl} and {sankari} will stay on for another term and then there is the excitement of four new designers being announced soon.

Quick Blog Rant

Ok so I have been blog-hopping a lot lately and there is one thing that REALLY REALLY makes me foam at the mouth:

Comment moderation AND word verification enabled at the same time.

Seriously guys...have one or the other - both are not necessary. If you are worried about Spam use the word verification, that is more than sufficient. I can understand comment moderation if you have experienced lots of crappy comments but if you have the moderation enabled why bother with the verification??

Yeah, I know in the grand scheme of things this is not a major thing but it just irks me....so there... sue me

This week is a special week for me over at {2s4y} - why? Because it was my turn for the bonus sketch...yay!

So without further ado, see my sketch here

And with the sponsored product from {creative cuts} I went to town :)
We don't really celebrate Halloween over here but I love creating cards with the Halloween sentiment as there always may be some peeps around who have a birthday on that date (not mentioning names as there may be just someone who will get this card in a few days time....*wink* *wink*)

Happy Birthday

{pencil lines} has turned an amazing three years this month and I am truly excited for my buddy {anna} that her blog has established itself amongst the myriad of challenge blogs across the globe.
I was so honoured to have been invited by Anna when she first started the blog and enjoyed my DT stint from October 2006 until October 2007.

You may have noticed the birthday celebrations going on all this weekend and many of my good friends -> for example {sasha}, {christiane} and {sandie} have participated in the Blog Hop. Then there are oodles of past and present designers who created sketches, step-by-step and other yummyness for the Birthday Bash. Of course I didn't need to be asked twice to play along too. See my sketch {here} and link over there to your take on the sketch to be in for a chance to win a RAK....wooohooo

So, what else is new? I have been in a card making mood like no ones business but most of them are for upcoming assignments so I have to keep them under wraps, but a few I can share. You may notice my extreme obsession with the three dimensional layering - but you know, I just LOVE it. Cutting and layering are so therapeutic.

I started off with purging through my old scrapbooks and pulled out all those pages with I didn't really like. There were many which were done specifically for a product showcase for a Kit Club or an Online store and they were really not me. I just created them because I had to and they bear no sentimental value to me. I nall honesty, I create for my own personal enjoyment, so about every two years I purge my layouts. The ones I dislike go in the bin - but of course I will always take off ay embellies and pictures first. So, yesterday afternoon I was 35 layouts poorer but already re-scrapped some of the pictures saved and LOVE what I did now.

But I digress - I also salvaged some older papers, which I loved enough to use again but thanks to the stickyness of the glue, I could only get a few scraps for cards....hence my card-a-thon.

The first card was created for the present {passion for promarkers} challenge. You get to use the sketch and can use ANY colours you like for colouring images. Now, I am still in the learning stages of the colouring business and I am not 100% convinced about this one, but I guess it will do for now. For the butterfly and flowers I used about 10/11 different colours, such as Ivory, Lemon, Turqouise, Duck Egg Blue, Apple, Moss, various Greys.

And I also made these little beauties: they consists of many small bits of purged paper. I just layered bits and pieces, so it would not show that some flowers had bits missing :). Ya, I can be clever sometimes....

Finally there is a card I created for the {2s4y} blog - but as I didn't read our assignment properly I ended up with a surplus card that does not follow any of the sketches. What did I just say earlier on about me being clever....I think I better retract that statement for now

Now, quickly before I go: Those of you who shop online with me -> tomorrow is your last chance for getting your recent AVON order via email to me.
Everyone else, don't forget there is another Sketch up tomorrow at 2 Sketches 4 You

2S4Y - Kazan's Sketch #37

This week we were delighted to be working with returning Sponsor {just rite}. Their stamp sets are such fun and I love that they are all interchangeable, given you uncountable options of creating your personalised message.

To go with Kazan's Sketch, I chose the {wood stamper with bonus font} - I love that I am able to create my own sentiments to go with cute flower image.

Meet: Lady Strange

I have a new friend - She is so cute and so cuddly and I wubs her immensely.
She is a sock chick and She is was created by my buddy {trace}.

When Trace first starting making sock toys, I was drooling all over her creations from day one and one day she mentioned this sock toy which she was working on - saying it would probably be something I'd like. All Trace needed to say was "safety pin" and "tattoos" and I bought the toy unseen.

Isn't she a beauty? I just love her her wee tattoos (the arms spell rock chick...) and her punky outfit. She is so me, dontcha think? I love that Trace also gave her the name Lady Strange - she ploughed through Def Leppard songs to find the one that would be most fitting - now how is that for customer service?

If you are looking for a fabulous gift, like some "socking" filler (bwahahahahahha, I am so freakin funny....), email Trace, she does commissioning work and will get out of her way to create the prefect "sockie" for you.

Avon - Top Pick for October WIN IT

When I decided to become an Avon Rep one of my first "missions" was to try the product I was about to sell. I am a person who cannot knowingly gush about something and say it is so fabulous, when in fact I have not used it myself. So, over the last two months I used so many different products, that I would class myself as a walking Avon catalogue by now *grins*

There are products which I am indifferent about and if you'd ask me about them directly, I would tell you the truth. But I am not here to knock anything, I am here to share which products I think are totally rocking the house down - and believe me, over the past weeks I have found that 95% of the product I used is the best I've ever had in my hands.

Every month, I will tell you about my favourite pick for that month and every month one of my online customers will win the Top Pick. Sound good? Then read on - even if you don't order from me, you might find my picks interesting.

For October, I have chosen to showcase the {advance techniques mirror shine spray} which is my most treasured hair product at this moment in time. For years I have been trying to find a spray that would make my hair shine without making it greasy, or without looking like I poured a gallon of silicon over my head. When the spray was offered in one of Avon's many Sales, I thought I give it a try.

Boy, am I glad I did - this totally does what it says on the tin - need a little boost, because you have a bad hair day? Spritz it on!! Think that your hair just looks dull and go do with some oompfh? Spritz it on!!
The shine is UNBELIEVABLE without looking fake and in particular on bleached hair like mine, you will find it hard to get any form of shine to stay...but not so with this beauty.

I found that spritzing it on one day, still leaves a shine for approximately three days - and I cannot stress enough that this spray will not make you hair feel greasy or sticky and you will find no residue on your clothing or pillow either. It seems to nourish my hair as well - since I have been using this spray my hair has become softer, more manageable and less dull. I only use the spray once a week these days and the hair still shines...awesome, I think

So, every order that I receive for Campaign 16 (which starts tomorrow and has no minimum order value), will be entered into the draw to win the full sized bottle of this spray (RRP £4.00). Last order day is the 20th of October and I will be offering a few more giveaways before that date, so be sure to check back.

2S4Y - Laura #36 and much more

Is it Monday already?? I can't believe there is already another sketch up at {2s4y} and it is another beauty!
Once again the DT were sponsored by Sakura of America, so Anja and myself provided some additional inspo for the team.

Laura's sketch is stunning, don't you think?

To tell you the truth, I struggled so much this week - no idea why but somehow the card would not come together. When I saw the sketch for the first time I had a clear vision how I wanted my card to look, but my hands had their own idea. Three cards made it into the bin and for the first time I thought I would have to let Laura and Kazan know that I am unable to play along.

But my last attempt generated this card and I am happy enough with it. The bird shape was actually traced onto a scrap sheet of chipboard, which used to serve as my work surface for when I use Glimmer Mist. The colour combination therefore was pretty much a happy accident. That shows you again - do not throw anything away, you may be able to use it!

Cardstock: Papermill; Bazzill
Papers: Upsy Daisy Designs #MT2-013. Martin, #ED012. Fantasy; October Afternoon
Stamp: myStampBox - Gelegenliches kleine Box
Other: Ribbon; Border Punch; Glimmer Mist

Check out what the other girls did {here} and have a bash yourself to win a fabulous prize.

Wasn't our {blog-hop} fun? I certainly enjoyed looking at all the cards that were created and comments left and I am so very happy for all the winners - have fun with your goodies ya'll.

Other than WCMD, there was an online crop happening at {art freckles} and I thought I check it out. Even though I started off kinda mojoless - in the end I had some fabulous projects to show for.
The DT on the board challenged us and inspired with fantastic ideas and I will be certainly back there to hang out once in a while

Linda Sue challenge us to create a {fence card} and this is what I came up with - I really LOVE how this card ended up.

Cardstock: Bazzill, Stampin' Up
Paint: Ranger Dabbers
Rub Ons: Rusty Pickle
Glimmer Mist, Embroidery Floss, Cuttlebug Embossing folders, Glitter Glue, Chalk

You can see here just how well the Cuttlebug embossing folder brought out the woody look of the fence. I think I need to make some more of these :)

And then there was the make'n'take from Shannon for a {halloween tag}. Even though I am not really into Halloween and I don't generally have use for Halloween cards and stuff, I had to make one of them and totally enjoyed it! And also the little {atc}to which Kimberley challenges us. Love that I could use up my old Rusty Pickle scraps. I kept those Halloween bits as I thought one day they may come in handy

Cardstock: Bazzill
Papers: October Afternoon, Rusty Pickle
Chipboard Alpha: Pressed Petals
Other: Glimmer Mist, Lace, Buttons, Twine

Cardstock: Bazzill

But that's not all, oh no - I also  created another card for Renee's {seriously spook} challenge and a layout for Shannon's {thankful} challenge. Yep, I guess I was a scrapping fool and I really had a good time.

Upsy Daisy Designs - October 2009 Projects

Wow, ever since my holiday I seem to be running out of days for posting all my entries...he he

Today I would like to share my October assignments for {upsy daisy designs} with you. This month, we have been focusing on the {cupcake} and {bebe} lines. I like the BeBe line so much that I hardly had any product left to play with....what I love most about it is that the pattern is the same on each of the two sides of the page design - only on one side it is predominantly blue and its reverse will be pink. How clever is that?

I created a little gift card holder. We all know that new parents need so many bits and bobs for their newborn, that a gift card  would be one of the best presents. That way you can be sure the recipients get what they really need and like.

Project - Precious Boy

Papers: #UDD0163. Belle / Beau ~ #UDD016 ~ Layette, #UDD0166. Ma Petite / Mon Petit from the {bebe line},
Embellishments: #UDD208. Chic Bebe {clear stamps}, #UDD185. Baby Love {rub ons}

Then there is this card - I love the bright pink within the Cupcake line. It is so girly and SO me!

Card - Happy Birthday
Papers: #MT2-011. Carter from the {man about town II line}; #UDD0137. Scrumptious ~ #UDD0136. Sweet ~ #UDD0133. Delectable from the {cupcake line}
Embellishments: #UDD190. Sweet Celebrations {rub ons}

And again, there is more to share but you will have to wait a few more days, because the layout I created has a very special Blog Hop attached to it....nuff said, for now

Did you all know that we now have a {fan page} for UDD on Facebook? Well, if you didn't know you better go over there quick and become a fan, because throughout the month of October we will be giving away FREE product each week...starting this week with one of my favourite stamp sets.

WCMD at 2 Sketches 4 You

Welcome to World Card Making Day and the 2 Sketches 4 You Blog Hop.

If you just happened upon my blog today, please start at the beginning of our hop {here}.

Each one of the 2S4T Designers drew inspiration from the wonderful sketch created specifically for this event at {2 Sketches 4 You}. As Designers we all worked with a different sponsor to bring you mega inspiration and of course Prizes to be won.  Just by leaving a comment on each Designers Blog you will be eligible to win a particular sponsors prize.  I was fortunate to work with....{Scor-it}

Scor-it brings you a variety of products that are ideal for all your crafting needs.  The Scor-it Mini was designed specifically for people that work in small spaces  or for work on small projects.  It is lightweight and portable. This Handy tool features a 9" center an a 6" scoring rule which is a perfect fit for making cards, place cards, gift cards, tags etc.  This clever little tool Scores, embosses and debosses!  Other new exciting products you can find in the {Scor-it Store} include the Scor-it Sliding Ruler, the A-2 Envelope-it Template, Die-cut Cards, Card Kits and much more.  Don't forget to visit the {Scor-it gallery} for tons of inspiration on what to do with your Scor-it board!

For my card, I used the Scor-it to create some raised lines along the edges of the cardbase as well as on the red scalloped strip. Did you notice the circle at the top right of the card? I used the Scor-it to create a little pattern, which I think somehow gives the impression of a flower.

Blog Hop Giveaway

I am giving away this fabulous collection of Scor-it products including a Scor-it Mini,  Sliding Ruler and A-2 Envelope-it.

 All you have to do to WIN this entire Collection is leave me a comment here by by Midnight (MST) and I will randomly select the lucky winner. All winners will be announced tomorrow, Sunday Oct 4, on {2 Sketches 4 You}

Rootie Tootie

I am so stinkin' happy that I can finally share my excitement at having been invited to join the Design Team for {my stampbox}. My buddy {marci} first introduced me to this Canadian stamp manufacturer, and I had been drooling over the assignments she created for mSB for some time.

So when she posted on her blog that mSB had a DT call, I thought "why not?" I think what totally swayed it for me is the fact that they have a wonderful selection of {german stamps} on offer.
When I create cards and  projects for my family I often wish I would have some German sentiments at hand, so mSB were the perfect partner in that respect.

During the cause of this year I have noticed how much more I have gone back to stamping, so to say that I was exited when I received the email from Bettina, inviting me to their team, is an understatement. It was sooooooo difficult for me to keep schtumm about it as well, as I have been playing with some of the sets for over a week now and I so desperately wanted to show them off...and now I CAN!!! WOOT WOOT

And then {this} made me sniffle and smile at the same time. Love ya too, girl xoxo

So you wanna what I created for them for this month?

Layout - Busted
Stamps used: {merry word jumble}; {just add notes}

It is not quite clear on the picture but I used the Merry Word Jumble on the masking tape. In two different colours, the sentiment Happy Together was stamped in random fashion on the tape, which gave it an interesting pattern. From the Just Add Notes set, I used the Memories. Notes and Lines stamps.

Card - Jinge Bells
Stamps used: {ho ho ho}

It is never to early to start on your Christmas cards and as soon as I saw this super cute Reindeer stamp, I knew I had to use it staright away. Yes, I am aware that I still need to work on my colouring of images, but I think I am getting better :)

Tag - Happy Birthday
Stamps used: {happy birthday - small box}

I love this set - it is so versatile and not restricted to be used for Birthday sentiments. The parcel would just as well work for a Christmas card, as would the candle.

There is more to come from me this month, but that will have to wait a little. Every day of the week, there will be an inspirational post on the {msb blog} by a different DT Member - my turn is later on this month and I cannot wait to show you what I created :)

The Holiday - Part III

Now we came to Lyndon’s favourite part of the holiday, setting up tent (yuk, yuk, yuk). I hate camping, I despise it in fact but made a promise to Lyndon that I try it one more time during a summer holiday, seeing that he always caved in to what I wanted to do on holidays.

After a long a tiring train ride, and a 45 minute walk to the campsite, we finally arrived at about 17:00hrs at Berchtesgaden. Of course at that moment in time the weather decided to award us with a few drops of rain here and there and we feared we would not be able to set up the tent without getting soaked. But in the end all was well – Lyndon did most of the setting up bit, we stored our backpacks and made our way towards the Koenigsee to get something to eat.

You need to know that if I get hungry and don’t find anything to eat – I get cranky with a capital C. As it was Monday most Restaurants were actually closed for their so-called “rest day”. In Germany many Restaurants are closed on Sundays, however they are not obliged to do so. Therefore some are open Sundays and subsequently choose another day of the week for their day of rest. After walking around for a while we finally spotted one Restaurant that was open, but once we got there we saw people being turned away as it was so full. No wonder, because everyone tried to pile into there as all other places were closed.

From last time we remembered a fabulous Restaurant in Schoenau which was about a 40 minute walk away. After much cussing and pouting on my part, we finally decided to go there only to find that..Yup “Monday = rest day”. We knew there were a few other places around in that area and checked them out. But again, people were turned away as they Restaurants could not cope with the demand. I ended up sitting on a bench sobbing my eyes out – we both hadn’t eaten for a day, our feet were sore from all that walking and the thought of going back to the tent that early with a rumbly tummy just did my head in.

Quite frankly I do not understand the powers that be in Berchtesgaden – hotels filled to capacity (you saw the “no vacancy” signs all around), the campsite had tents and camper vans almost on top of each other, yet you can’t even get something proper to eat?? WTF?? Seriously, if I had a Restaurant it would be open every day of the week during the season – why throw away possible earnings like that. In the end all that was left was MacDonalds which caused me to sob again stating “ I didn’t spent a fortune on my holiday to go to Germany to eat the same shit I can get at home”...but hey, it was better than nothing and at least in Germany you can get McRib at McD – they don’t sell that in the UK.

Fast forward to our first night in the tent – not only did we have the noisiest neighbours imaginable who decided to converse loud into the late evening hours and whenever we managed to drift off a booming laugh made sure we wouldn’t fall asleep. I couldn’t sleep anyway – every bone in my body was hurting, it was cold and I just reveled in being miserable. In total, I think I managed to doze for something like 2 hours.

I was pretty much awake all through the night and was staring at the clock, willing it to get to at least 7:00 so we could get starting on the day. When I left the tent for the shower rooms I saw a big fat nothing – all the mountains surrounding us the evening before were gone, disappeared into thin air. Actually they disappeared behind the worst bit of mountain mist I ever experienced. You could not see a darn thing – yay me...hip hip hooray and a fabulous tenting time (notice the sarcasm oozing from that statement?). Story cut short – Shower rooms and toilets awful, Kim hungry, tired, frozen and miserable, no mountains in sight. I wanted to come home right then and there, but nooooooo Mr Lyndon said “don’t worry Babe, it’s only mountain mist, it will clear and we will have a great day”.

Whoo-pee.

At some stage I cried again – what a spoiled little wuss I am, but I quite enjoyed my misery at that time. You know the moment when you actually decide in your head that you should be awarded martyr status for putting up with so much crap ,yet no one recognises it? And as soon as you managed to make everyone else around you miserable too, you cheer up and say "get a grip - it's not all bad"

Anyway, we jumped on the bus to the Hintersee, which is close to my favourite {zauberwald} and were supposed to hike from there to some fabulous Restaurant/Mountain hut. Thankfully there were some information signs, which displayed the fact that this hut in fact had its "rest day" that day. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah....what on earth did we do to have so much rotten luck?? Plan B, saw us waiting for the bus to return - check out my "happy" face on this picture, speaks a thousand words, right?

So, we got our butts towards the next stop - forgotten the name of the place where we got off but from there it was still a 40 minute hike to get to the {mittelstation} at the Jenner. The sun was beating down relentlessly and did not improve our overall mood, however the scenery helped us overlook the fact that we were hungry, hot, stinky and very thirsty.

Eventually we made it to {hugo beck haus}, which is one of our favourite mountain huts in that area. Last time we were up there we had a fabulous meal and we hoped it was still as good as way back then. Thankfully, the hut was open and the food as divine as always. If only it wouldn't have been so darn hot - we both only had thin cotton shirts on and still they were SOAKED (and I am not kidding).

After our refreshment stop we carried on along the hiking trails and once more were amazed at the fact that there were so many people about. This was supposed to be post-season - and we had to walk single file most of the time...sheesh. Makes you wonder how packed high-season must be. But there were some "hikers" for which we gladly stepped aside - only in Germany.....would you step aside on a hiking trail for this:

Long story short, we walked for quite some time and about 18:00ish my knees started to hurt a bit. So we called it a day and went back to the tent. The next day would be quite exhausting we thought and we needed a good nights rest... I could barley keep my eyes open anyway
