Twisted Sketches #112

Well who would have thought - today is my last post as a Twisted Sister, those six months went quicker than a I would have thought.

It has been an amazing time working with Anam and the rest of the team and I cannot wait to see what the new team will create.

So, here is my last sketch, with the twist "fun".

The Big Bash

Today I would like to share a layout created with a combination of papers used from The Crafty Chronicle, Antiquities and Spring in Bloom. Donna's paperlines mix and match so well that combining them in one project is so much fun!

This month we embrace independence and artistic expression, something Donna teaches with passion and inspiration and hopefully some of her talent may rub off on me during my term as one of her DT members.

I love getting messy and work with different techniques and textures, so the starting point for my layout was the background. Using a stamp inked with the Watermark Inkpad from Clearsnap, I sprinkled some of the white Top Boss Embossing Powder onto the stamped area, tapped off the surplus powder and used my heat gun to set the embossed area.

After the embossing powder was dry to the touch, I sprayed a combination of Smooch Spritz in Mixed Berries and Caramel Latte over the whole background. Once this dried I used a damp cloth to remove the mist from the embossed area to enhance the whiteness of the lines - it really makes them stand out from the light background.

I also love colouring areas with the help of markers, and Donna's  Artistic Papers for each of her collections, are perfect to let your creative juices flow.

For my layout I chose the Spring in Bloom 6x6 paper and after colouring two of the images, I carefully cut them out individually, added a generous helping of Fairy Dust Glitter in Pralines & Cream and Mixed Berries and adhered them to the background with the aid of adhesive foam squares.

All I needed to complete the layout was to ink the edges of the papers with some Fluid Chalk Ink in Chestnut Roan, after I worked on some edges with the help of a distressing tool such as the Distrezz-it-All.

This layout was also inspired by this week's sketch #110 over at {{Twisted Sketches}} with the added twist of "Ribbon"

Twisted Sketches #108

Another week and another sketch over at {{Twisted Sketches}}.

I have to admit that this week's twist "water" did give me a little headache as I don't really have any pictures that focus on water. So I was thinking along the route of maybe doing something with watercolours, but then realised that I don't have any watercolours....so, what's a girl to do?

When I flicked through my photo's I found one depicting the Needles, the famous Isle of Wight landmark and as they are sticking out of the water, I had my connection to the twist :)

Twisted Sketches #99

Come and play along with us at {{Twisted Sketches}} where we have another sketch with twist (straight) for you.

For my layout I went down the really difficult route to keep all the lines straight , which was NOT easy and I also tried to keep as straight to the original sketch as possible.

I also combined my DT Challenge for {{Upsy Daisey Designs}} with the sketch. This month we took inspiration from a song/music.

Of course I had to go wild with my mists, right :) and I dipped into my Kit for {{April}} - you know just how fun it is to use up some so-called "old" papers to scrap with? I have had this particular Scenic Route paper for years and it almost feels like anew discovery :)

Twisted Sketches #95

Join us over at {{Twisted Sketches}} for the latest sketch and twist (paper). I would love to see you all play along.

Here is my take and as for the twist, I created my flower embellishments from patterned paper :)

Papers:  #BLO016. Spring is in the Air,  #UDD0167. Nouveau, #HSH015. Midland Ave, #AVA015. Summit ** Brads#EMB007. Walk in the Park

The layout also doubles as my second project for {{Upsy Daisy Designs}} this month, where the DT were challenged to create anything with a Spring/Easter theme.
I think you cannot get more Spring feel then to have two flower clusters on your layout, right?

By the way, I created the background by placing the precut flower shapes onto the background paper and then started misting in three different colours. I then used my black Uniball Signo and doodled the outline of the flowers directly onto the background. I love the effect this gave to the overall design.

Twisted Sketches #91

The most recent challenge and sketch are up over at {{Twisted Sketches}}.

Come and play along with us and tackle the twist of: Chipboard

I have combined my {{Upsy Daisy}}  DT layout for the month with the sketch.
Our assignments this month was a multi-photo layout.
Man, I do struggle with those and even plonking two photo's on one page gave me a real headache...

Twisted Sketches #89

Another week and another sketch over at {{Twisted Sketches}}. As per usual, if you want to work with us from the sketch, please go over {{here}} to see Anam's blueprint and the reveal of the rest of the DT.

The twist for this week is: Pins - one of my favourite items to work with!
I tried being a right clever dick this time around and used a safety pin (ha!) to attach my date tag and some beads from it. I made use of my {{February Kit}} for this layout.

Twisted Sketches #86

Today is reveal day for sketch #86 over at {{Twisted Sketches}}.

Whilst it is not "my week" (Team A will go live next Tuesday) this week, I thought I share my submission layout with you, seeing that I used my {{January Kit}} to create it and therefore achieved my goal of four layouts and one card with the Kit...woot woot

Sketch Love

Crafting is really a funny old world - I used to love creating to sketches and for many years I thrived on being part of DT's making use of weekly sketches. I started with {{Pencil Lines}} which also gave me the chance to get to know {{Anam}} very well and we have formed a fabulous online friendship over the years. Which led me to becoming part of her first {{Twisted Sketches}} DT, which I adored. There also was {{2 Sketches 4 You}} - which really got me totally into making cards again.

Somewhere along the line I started to become intimated by sketches - and I stopped looking to them for inspiration. I carried on being the sketch artist for {{Upsy Daisy Designs}} but that was different because I drafted the sketches after I created my layout.

A couple of weeks ago, I re-discovered Twisted Sketches and I am TOTALLY and UTTERLY into creating from sketches again. So, you will see quite a few cards and layouts popping up over the coming months, using sketches from challenges.

Let's start with the recent layout and card sketches from {{Twisted Sketches}}.

The twist for {{Sketch #083}} was to use the word "Time" which in my case is incorporated in the title..I scare myself sometimes being so clever *giggles*

** click on images to enlarge **

Layout - Times Square
Papers: My Minds Eye,My Little Shoebox ** Stickers: American Crafts, Rusty Pickle ** Chipboard: Cosmo Cricket

I also enter the layout in the recent {{ ScrapFIT #035}} challenge, asking to make use of your scraps and do a mixed alpha title.

And then there is the Twisted Sketches {{Card Challenge #041}}, with the twist of using "ribbon". Now, I am not too hot on ribbons anymore, so I am declaring the twine used as being my ribbon :)). I also used one of my older {{Some Odd Girl}} images. Generally I am not too much of a people stamp person - but who can resist {{Toby and Buddie}}??

Card - For You
Cardstock: Bazzill * Papers: 3ndypapir, Imaginisce * Digi Stamp: Some Odd Girl

But there is more....

The recent {{My Minds Eye challenge}} for layouts.
Would you believe that the papers I have used here are from the {{Holly Jolly}} line? Nah, me either - they really do not look like Xmas papers at all, do they? That is what I love about MME - the flipside of the papers is generally totally generic and can be used for any theme *heart*

Layout - Mom

Create Your Own Kit - January 2011

Oh yes, just because we have a new year doesn't mean that I stop creating my own Kits from my old stash...that is definitely an ongoing thing for the time being.

I am going back to basics though as I did on my first two kits, i.e. I only select the papers and card stock but do not match embellishments to it. I found that I am much more creative, when I can delve in the abyss that is a plethora of embellishments in all colours of the rainbow (holy cow...where did that sentence come from?!???).

When I chose the embellies for my {{November}} and {{December}} Kit, I found that I was less creative. So let's see how I fare with my first Kit for this year

** click on image to enlarge **
3 sheets of 12 x 12 cardstock from Bazzill
2 sheets of 12 x 12 double sided paper from My Minds Eye
2 sheets of 12 x 12 double sided paper from Cosmo Cricket

Attempted Goal:
4 Layouts
'London Rocks' ** 'Thankful' ** 'Watch out' ** 'Wembley'
1 Card
'Thank You'
Achieved

Well - I actually already achieved the above goal because I pretty much used up the Kit and have 4 layouts and 1 card completed since yesterday....but some have been done for challenges, so I cannot show them all just yet.
But these two I can:

Card - Thank You
