SOG - Challenge #10 - Punny Sentiments

Welcome back to another fun challenge over at the {{ Some Odd Girl }} blog. This week we challenge you to use a "punny" sentiment on your card - in the likes of "you are berry sweet" or " love you sew much"...you get the picture, right?

You may recall that I am totally into weird and funny sentiments for cards, and in particular when using the {{ Some Odd Girl }} Digi Stamps, like {{ here }}, {{ here }} or {{ here }} to show but a few. The latest Summer Release PT IV is pretty much screaming for those sentiments, don't you think?

The cow is an image I begged Kristy on hands and knees to include, I told her that I would be in a totally ratty MOOd, if she wouldn't. It is not a pretty sight, when I am having a COW, so Kristy humoured me - and I am loving {{ Moooey }} so much, I think it may even be my fave image from {{ Some Odd Girl }} so far. I teamed her up with one of the older releases {{ Cloud Buddies }}, which work perfectly on this card

Cardstock: Hero Arts; Papermill * Papers: 3ndypapir; Upsy Daisy Designs - #SYLA015 Everglades * Stickers: October Afternoon * Tools: ProMarker pens; Cuttlebug embossing folder "Swiss Dots"

Play along with us and have your own cow, should you win this challenge - as our winner get's to choose an image of her/his choice...

Busy Busy Busy Bee...

.... that'll be me :)

First of all I had a real happy mail day yesterday when my DT pack from {{ Upsy Daisy Designs }} arrived. Oh YUM is all I can say...not only did I get to clutch the two new lines to my heaving chest but we are also on a DT exchange with {{ Helmar }}. I have been dying to get my hands on their stuff but as it isn't sold in the UK (whey ever not Helmar-dudes?? You need to expand fo sho), I thought I would never be so lucky to work with their product.
I started on their products last night and I am already hooked - WONDERFUL adhesives, and what's best - their adhesive actually does what it says on the tin and STICKS ;)))))

Anyhoo - I had some time to create a few bits and bobs, which I am entering in a few challenges as well but first of a Layout just for fun . My Mom used to be the Manager of a local cinema and got to meet lots of Moviestars who showed up for the premiers. She always got autographs for her collection and here she is with {{ Sir Roger Moore }}, aka 007 - the name is: Bond...James Bond.

This wee tag was created for the recent challenge over at {{ Fab 'n' Funky - Buttons and Bows }}, using {{ Ice Cream Cone }} from {{ Some Odd Girl }}. I blame my Teamie {{ Leah }} for my new obsession with this particular digi coz she's been showcasing the most delicious cards with the blighter ;))))

Relaxing and a challenge

Mr P and I enjoyed some chillaxing time on our improved(ish) balcony. Whilst it is still a work in progress and nowhere near finished, we enjoy just sitting there and having a glass or two of our favourite summer beverages. In my case, I opted for some Lambrini, while Mr P enjoyed some Cider with blackcurrant *shudders*

** click on any of the images to enlarge **

We also spotted your friendly neighbourhood {{ Spiderman }} peeping out between our tomato plants - I wonder if {{ J. Jonah Jameson }} will pay good money to have copies of the pictures for the Daily Bugle, no?!!??

Okay okay I admit it is NOT the real Spiderman...yah, I know...a shocking revelation *wink wink*

Anyway, I almost forgot to show you the card I did for the recent {{ Card Patterns }} challenge, which was sponsored by {{ Some Odd Girl }}. I chose an image from the upcoming 27th July release Mr Pepper and Mrs Salt. Hopefully we see you over at Card Patterns to play along!

TOOT and a DT Call

I am so super excited that I can share my good news with you now...I am proud to be the new Design Team Coordinator for {{ Upsy Daisy Designs }}. How exciting to be entrusted with this position, even though I have to say I am sad that our old Coordinator, the wonderful {{ Laci }} stepped down from her commitments.

Laci and her family are moving house and commencing October 2010, she will be opening her very own {{ Scrapbook Shop }}...woooohoooo. I am excited for my girl!

Carrying on with the good news - Upsy Daisy Designs are looking for a few new Designers to add to their current team. I would love you to try out for this position because trust me, this is a FABULOUS company to work for - and I should know, after all I have been with them for about two years now and am still as happy as Larry.

Check out the skinny on the call {{ here }}.

While we are on the subject on Upsy Daisy Designs, here is my second project for this month. Thankfully my mom doesn't have internet so I can showcase this project, which I will give to her when I see her in three weeks time

Before  go, I have some more things to share.
The other day, I won some digi images from {{ wink*wink*ink }} and here is one card I made using the fun set {{ Fiona }}. Isn't she cute?

And finally, I create this layout to enter the recent challenge at {{ Crazy For Challenges }} where you had to use buttons of some sort. This also works for the recent {{ I Love ProMarkers }} challenge #24 with the button theme. I just fancied doing a layout rather than a card. Still fun to use the {{ Sun }} Digi stamp from {{ Some Odd Girl }} - they are not just for Christmas cards...

Ouw...again

Well, the discomfort of having my nose {{ cauterised }} was for nothing because yesterday evening I experienced again one massive nose bleed. It went on for more than five minutes and I was really annoyed - guess I have to go back to the surgery and have them do it again. After all, I was told that it could take more than one session for it to stop. Hmpfh.

Other than that - I have some exciting crafty news, which I can share in a few days time..
Yeah, yeah I know it is annoying when peeps say "I have some news, but I can't share yet" but I just had to let a little of that positive steam off for now :)))))

I have a few layouts to share, which I created over the last couple of days - I know I said it before but I really dig scrapping the smaller 6" x 8" size...

SOG - Challenge #9 - Be Bold

Another fun release this week for {{ Some Odd Girl }} and our {{ Challenge }} - should you choose to accept it - is to use SPOTS and STRIPES and a BIG TITLE for this one!

My wee friend {{ Lite }}captured my heart as soon as I set my eyes on him, so there was no question I had to use him to brighten up my day...(geddit ? geddit ?? lightbulb = brighten up my...ah, never mind)

Monday 12 July 2010

Ouw...

Don't you just hate it when you go for a doctor's appointment for a consultation and end up getting your nose {{ cauterised }}
Ok, so truth be told - I was due to have it done but this was just supposed to be the "talk-you-through-the-process". Naturally I was quite shocked when all of a sudden, this stick dipped in silver nitrate was swirled around inside my nostril. It wasn't too bad - uncomfortable: yes, stinging: yes. But if it gets rid of the frequent nosebleeds all the better.
Only problem is that I am not allowed to blow my nose for two days....whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! Right now I look like that silly girl in The Blair Witch project, who had snot dripping off her nose - so NOT sexy.

Shall we get that visual out of your minds?!, Yeah, I thought so.

Let me share a card I made for the recent challenge #33 over at {{ Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge }}. The prompt is seven and as {{ Some Odd Girl }} are sponsoring the challenge, I think you should all get your creative hiney in gear and join in :)))))
As always winner gets a selection of FREE stamps

They are here.....

....U.F.O.'s, that is - but I get to that later.

First of all I wanted to share a few bits and bob with you all, starting with my {{ Just For You }} card winning the challenge over at {{ Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge }} and therefore winning a selection of stamps from {{ *Wink * Wink Ink }}. Not bad, hu?

Now onto other crafty bits - yesterday we had our second Digi Day at the {{ Some Odd Girl }} group over at the {{ SNR Card Universe }}. Boy, was that event hopping - I promise next time I let you know earlier about it but somehow the days before ran away with me and I never got around blogging about it...

Below are a selection of projects I created for the event - and you can still click on the link below the images and play along at any time - only you will no longer qualify for any prizes (sowwy).

So, it may seem that I don't do many layouts anymore these days, right? WRONG - I still do a lot but tend to make them for DT assignments and save a few for challenges and such. But I can share a few more done for my {{ Rock Album }} which focusses on the gigs I saw when the German/U.S. band Vamp opened for the main acts.

Have I kept you in suspense enough? Are you itching to know more about the U.F.O. encounter?!??
Well, here it goes: Last night about 22:00hrs, Mr P and I enjoyed a pew on our balcony, just to chill and cool down from the hot day - we looked at the stars, which started to become more visible by the minute and saw a few planes passing up in the sky.

We were stone cold sober and not tired in the slightest when Mr P said "what kind of a plane is that one? It's bright orange..." We watched it coming closer at a steady pace - no sound, no bouncing around - it just flow in a perfect straight line towards our house...at first we were joking about it being an U.F.O. but that was exactly what it was: and Unidentified Flying Object. Whilst I was frantically trying to look for my video camera, Mr P focused on the thing with his binoculars and described what he saw: "a bright orange circle with fuzzy red outlining". Once I located my camera, we dashed out the front door, as that was the area in which the U.F.O. was heading but it was too far gone into the clouds for me to capture anything (darn, darn, darn).

The thing wasn't even flying quick; a little slower than an air plane and it was so clear to make out. Just looking with the bare eye it seemed almost like one of these Chinese paper lanterns, but if it would have been one of those flying through the air, carried by the wind, they would not go in a perfect line, right?

We tried to find many excuses for what that thing could have been, and what is even weirder is that we realised after the incident that we witnessed something similar a month ago...again around 22:00hrs after a hot day. At that time we had some booze previously and thought we were just seeing something like a balloon, but thinking back after last nights stone sober encounter we are confident that we witnessed an U.F.O. over the Isle of Wight. Tell you what, from now on, every time I spend the evening on the balcony my video camera will not be leaving my side :)

June 2010 - A Summary

Here we are - six months of the year already gone...whooooosh, wham, bam and Santa is as good as squeezing through that chimney again....
Only six more weeks and I am off on my voyage on board {{ Queen Mary 2 }}...dude, I CANNOT wait.

Before I get to my summary for June, let me quickly share my entry for {{ 2 Sketches 4 You }} with you. I have used the {{ Anjou }} digi stamp from {{ Some Odd Girl }} and the wonderful papers from {{ 3ndypapir }} for this fun card.

June 2010 Summary

The Good

Favourite Gadget:
Back to my trusted iPod Nano...I would be lost/dead/hysterical without it

Favourite Song:
England Rocks by Down N' Outz...I *heart* England

Favourite TV show:
Mock the Week just returned for a brand new series and whilst I miss Frankie Boyd on the team of panelists, Russell Howard and Andy Parsons are still there and ensure that I get my weekly laughing fits

Favourite Beverage:
The humble Water ties with Lambrini

Favourite Food: Wine Gums of any shape or form were my vice this month....and it shows on my hips

The Bad

Health:
I suffered a lot from high blood pressure and constant nosebleeds this month. Add to that a few migraines and you could say that I have been one poorly puppy in June.

Work:
Stress is a continuous co-worker at the moment. We have been rushed off our feet since December and suffer badly from rude and abusive customers. This led me to create a series of "Insult Tags" using the names our lovely customers tend to call each one of our team...in case you wonder: I am Little Miss Patronising :)

Upsy Daisy Designs - DT July Pt I

It's that time of the month again - the monthly Sketch at {{ The Daisy Dairies }} is going live.

I created a sketch exclusively for {{ Upsy Daisy Designs }} and the Design Team were asked to use it as inspiration for their own projects.

We were all free to choose which of the last releases we would like to use and I focused on my favourite {{ See You Later Alligator }} and {{ Blossom }} for this layout of my uncle....doesn't he look too cute? I am pretty sure that he invented the Simon Pout (which I am apparently pretty good at...).

It's all go - go - go

Just a warning - this post will be picture heavy: so if you are on dial-up, my apologies....as always, if you wish to see any of he picture larger, just click right onto them and they will open up enlarged.

So, where do I start - Challenge? Scrapping for fun?? Rejected items??? I go with the challenge, the last one for the colours over at the {{ Design Team Dollies }} challenge blog. One of my co-workers commissioned me to create a birthday card for her mum and as she is a fan of bright colours, the {{ recent Dollie challenge }} was perfect:

Ingredients:
Cardstock: Hero Arts; Frances Meyer ** Papers: My Minds Eye; Sultane; Upsy Daisy Designs ** Stickers: October Afternoon ** Digi Stamps: Little Musings ** Punch: Martha Stewart

With the huge 30% OFF EVERYTHING Sale over at {{ Some Odd Girl }}, I succumbed to a fruit cocktail and bought myself some more yummies - do you think I can count them towards my five-a-day? The Sale is going on all throughout today and ends tomorrow - all the new releases are included within the Sale, so be quick!
I created this card this morning for a co-worker who had been such a great support to our team throughout the last week, I hope she will like it.
Ingredients:
Cardstock: Bazzill; Papermill; Frances Meyer ** Papers: My Minds Eye; Upsy Daisy Designs ** Stickers: October Afternoon; Jenni Bowlin ** Digi Stamp: Some Odd Girl** Punch: Martha Stewart ** Tools: ProMarker pens; Uniball Signo Pens

A few weeks ago I created some layouts which I have never gotten around to post, for whichever reason - but most probably just because I tend to FORGET a lot of things lately....the first ones are part of my {{ Rock Album }} collection - I can't believe how quickly I am catching up with it all!

And then there is the one that was rejected... I applied for the {{ Hambly Screenprints }} DT call and you had to create one never before seen layout. If I am honest, I don't even know why I submitted, because I didn't really fancy all the requirements for the DT - so in a roundabout way I am glad I was not chosen. Believe it or not, had I received the call - I would have declined. I am actually so happy with the two Manufacturers I am with, that I have no intention of entering any call in the foreseeable future.

So, with that off my chest - here's the layout...showing Mr P and myself locking jaws, after he picked me and my earthly belonging up from Harwich, to start the rest of our lives together....everyone go: awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

SOG - Challenge #8 - Don't be square

This week over at the {{ SOG Challenge blog }} we want to see you create a card which is NOT square or rectangular.

Using {{ Lemoney }} from the 29 June 2010 {{ Some Odd Girl }} summer release Pt III I really wanted to find the perfect lemon shape...yah, like THAT happened *snorts*
No matter how hard I tried, the shapes I found did not rock my boat, so I gave up in the end and just used a melon shape...Make of that what you will :)

** click on the image to enlarge **

As usual, join us in the challenge and get your name in the hat for a FREEbie from the shop, two tickets in the hat if you use a SOG image on your project.
